The importance of physical education is many but what we need to know and understand is that it should not be ignored and avoided unless there is a requirement. Yes, there are situations where we have to ensure that physical education is limited or avoided, and it is important to know about this too.

Let’s have a quick look at why and when physical education should be limited or avoided. Anyone, including children, who suffer from any heart diseases or diabetes have to limit or avoid P.E. depending on the condition. Children or adults who have health conditions such as arthritis, kidney diseases or concerns with blood pressure, high or low, should be very careful of the type of physical education they receive. Anyone being treated with cancer or cancer-related treatments, should avoid or limit themselves from rigorous physical education. So what is it that you need to provide to exclude a child from P.E.? One would need a letter or a document from a certified doctor or ailment treating specialist, confirming the ailment or disease and the child’s current condition and prognosis.

We must acknowledge that every child should have physical activity, with the exception of a few. Having understood the benefits and advantages of physical education, let us look at some disadvantages, and how not including physical education in a child’s daily routine can affect them. Not participating in P.E can have a direct impact on a child’s mental health. When children take part in physical activities such as aerobics and yoga, it helps improve their flexibility and balance. Activities that include water sports such as swimming and kayaking help build up muscle strength and endurance to obstacles, it is very beneficial for children.

These sports help in overall body fitness and strength. These activities also help in improving lung and heart health. Avoids obesity which in return avoids diseases related to obesity such as diabetes and heart conditions, also arthritis.
